Acupuncture & Massage Therapy

We are fortunate to have Dr. Mangrum, an experienced acupuncturist, as part of our staff. Mangrum has been a member of the American Academy of Medical Acupuncture since 2012.

Acupuncture involves the placement of tiny needles in specific points of the body. When inserted, these needles can relieve tight muscular areas, increase circulation, and have local pain relief effects. The treatment can, in a sense, “jump start” the body’s own natural healing processes.

Results from a number of studies suggest that acupuncture helps ease low back pain, neck pain, headaches, and a number of other pain issues.

Massage Therapy

Our licensed massage therapist, Tonya Jones, has over a decade of experience providing high-quality massage therapy. Tonya is well-versed in the medical model of integrated massage. In conjunction with guidance from our physicians, she provides personalized therapy based on medical and surgical history and symptoms.

Patients often think massage is purely for relaxation purposes, but there are numerous other benefits of therapeutic massage. Studies have shown that massage can help facilitate pain relief, improve sleep, and provide an enhanced sense of well-being – all of which can help improve recovery time after treatment.

Tonya also is certified in lymphatic massage. This type of massage is very gentle and is designed to stimulate a patient’s lymphatic system. Healthy activity in the lymphatic system aids in maintaining a strong immune system, and is particularly beneficial for patients recovering from surgery or major medical treatments.
