Meet Our Team

Max Steuer, MD

Dr. Steuer grew up in Athens, Georgia before going to Cambridge, Massachusetts to earn his Bachelor of Arts degree at Harvard College. After Harvard, he focused on surgery at one of the leading medical schools and training centers in the world, Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas.

Christopher Tomaras, MD

Dr. Tomaras received his Doctorate of Medicine from the University of Tennessee, where he graduated with highest honors and was a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society.

Thomas J. Morrison, III, MD

A Georgia native from Savannah, Dr. Morrison received his undergraduate degree from the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Massachusetts, where he graduated cum laude.

Raymond Walkup, MD

An Alabama native, Dr. Walkup completed his undergraduate degree at Florida State University, where he graduated magna cum laude and received numerous academic honors. He went on to complete medical school at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

Shane Mangrum, MD

Dr. Mangrum graduated from Harvard University with a degree in organismic and evolutionary biology before attending medical school at the University of Utah. He then completed residencies in physical medicine and rehabilitation at the Mayo Clinic and the University of Utah.
Carter is the primary assistant to Dr. Steuer. He lectures on neurology topics at Mercer and Emory University and frequently speaks about brain and spine care at national conferences.

John is the primary assistant to Dr. Tomaras. John graduated with a Master of Medical Science degree with honors from Emory University in 2000 and joined Polaris in January 2001.

Matt is the primary assistant to Dr. Morrison. He holds an M.S. degree in exercise science from UGA and a Master of Medical Science with honors from Emory University.

Tracey Couse is a certified family nurse practitioner (FNP-C). She joined Polaris Spine & Neurosurgery in 2016. She works in collaboration with Dr. Raymond Walkup.

Tiffany Langeman joined Polaris Spine & Neurosurgery in January 2017, as the primary assistant to Dr. Mangrum. She graduated from Emory University’s physician assistant program in 2006 with highest honors.

Rick joined Polaris in February 2014 and is the primary physician assistant who makes rounds at each hospital. Prior to joining Polaris, he worked as a physician assistant in cardiology.
